Missouri Valley Pool Management has plenty of lifeguard summer jobs in Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO for teenagers and high school students!Each season, we hire over 200 Pool Managers and Lifeguards.  We offer our employees a great outdoor work environment that is both fun and rewarding, however, applicants must fully understand and accept the high level of responsibility required of lifeguards.

Missouri Valley Pool Management is presently hiring lifeguards for positions located in the towns and counties listed below:

Counties in KS:  Johnson, Wyandotte, Douglas, Miami.  Counties in MO: Jackson, Clay, Platte. Surrounding KS towns/cities:  Kansas City, Overland Park, Lenexa, Olathe, Leawood, Shawnee, Bonner Springs, DeSoto, Leavenworth.  Surrounging MO towns/cities:  Lees Summit, Grandview, Blue Springs, Independence, Liberty, Gladstone, Raytown, Parkville.

Lifeguard Job Description:
Lifeguarding offers a rewarding and fun summer job for teenagers, high school and college students. The most important duty of a lifeguard is the safety of swimmers and pool patrons, and a lifeguard is always on alert to identify any type of risk. This consists of consistent rule enforcement, continuous water surveillance, and first aid and rescues when necessary. Other duties include vacuuming and cleaning the pool, chemical testing the pool water, cleaning bathrooms, completing daily report forms regarding daily duties, cleaning bathrooms, ensuring safe and clean facilities, and attending in-service training to maintain lifeguarding skills.

Lifeguard Job Requirements:
In order to work as a lifeguard, you must receive certification through an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training class or equivelant, and obtain CPR/First Aid certification as well.  Very specific skills are learned through the certification process, which give lifeguards the confidence to successfully perform their duties and responsibilities. Lifeguards are vigilant, focused, and ready to act at a moments notice. Missouri Valley Pool Management recognizes our lifeguards as the trained professionals they are.
The most critical part of any lifeguard’s mission is the prevention of accidents.

The ability to prevent life-threatening situations is equally as important as the ability to save lives. As such, we promote the use of the 5 minute scanning strategy as developed by Tom Griffiths, Ed. D.
